Candy mittens

Winter, summer no matter what. Can not get enough of Klara Bothén’s mittens.

“Mittens, hand knitted from wool that my mother and grandmother dyed with forest plants and herbs back in 1982. The different names of the colours is the plant or herb that was used for the dyeing.”

Oh oh oh my goodness. I saw these called “candy mittens” and immediately thought of one of my family’s Christmas stories called “Granny Glittens and her Mittens” where she dyes her mittens with lemon drops and children eat them as a treat. They’re from “The Tall Book of Christmas”. I tried to find the story, but couldn’t, so sad, it’s lovely!

I fell in love with Granny Glittens and her amazing mittens when I was a little girl – a half century ago. I recently “invested” in a copy of the book and read it to my granddaughter when she was a wee one. If you would send me your snail mail address I will copy the story and mail it to you (book won’t fit in my scanner).
